Two soldiers and two army porters were killed after terrorists attacked an army patrol vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gulmarg region on Thursday, police sources said. Meanwhile, two army jawans are reported to be injured and have been taken for treatment.
According to police sources, the army vehicle came under fire near the Nagin post area of Butapathri, Gulmarg near the Line of Control (LoC).It has been learned that the J&K police suspect it to be a case of infiltration near LoC.
“A brief firefight took place between the Indian Army and terrorists in the general area of Baramulla’s Butapathri,” confirmed Chinar Corps.

Responding to the incident, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti took to X and wrote, “Shocked & deeply saddened by the militant attack on an army convoy in Baramulla in which a civilian porter has been killed. Condemn it unequivocally & pray for the swift recovery of the injured soldiers.”

The attack came hours after J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and presented a cabinet resolution advocating for the reinstatement of J&K’s statehood.
Earlier in the day, a labourer was shot at and injured in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The injured man was later identified as Pritam Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
