11 miners suffocate in coal mine accident near Quetta

At least 11 miners lost their lives in a horrific accident on Monday in the Sanjadi coal mine, located about 40 kilometers outside Quetta.

According to Chief Mines Inspector Abdul Ghani, the miners died from suffocation caused by carbon monoxide (CO) gas emission. Rescue efforts successfully retrieved the bodies of the deceased from the mine, and they were transported to a nearby hospital.

Rescue teams worked tirelessly to retrieve the bodies of the deceased miners from the mine. The bodies have been transported to a nearby hospital for identification and further procedures.

Reports indicate that the deceased miners hailed from the Swat region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities will take necessary steps to ensure the safe repatriation of the bodies to their families in Swat.

Balochistan government spokesperson, Shahid Rind in a statement said that the preliminary report from the Department of Mines and Minerals has been received.

The report indicates that the miners died due to the accumulation of toxic gas in the mine. The victims include nine workers, one contractor, and one mine manager.

“This is a devastating loss,” stated Rind. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. The entire community is mourning this tragic event.”

The provincial government has announced an immediate investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause and to prevent future occurrences.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of our miners,” Rind emphasized. “This tragedy highlights the urgent need for stricter safety protocols in the mining industry.”
