Jalaluddin Roomi foundation signed MoU with NM University to facilitate the diabetic patients


Multan.Well known industrialist and philanthropist, former President of Multan  as well as Dera Ghazi Khan  Chamber of Commerce  and Industry ,Chairman of jalaluddin roomi foundation ,Khawaja Jalaluddin  Roomi on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding to provide free medicines and insulin to the increasing number of diabetic patients in South Punjab  .

In this regard, an impressive ceremony was held at Nishtar Medical University in which the Chairman of Roomi Foundation Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi, Vice Chancellor of Nishtar Medical University Professor Dr. Mahnaz Khakwani and Principal of Nishtar Medical College Dr. Rashid Qamar Rao signed a memorandum of understanding and the ward has been named as Khawaja  Muhammad Iqbal Diabetes Center. 

The establishment of this center will promote the educational activities related to diabetes in Nishtar Medical University and provide free insulin and diabetes medicines to the deserving people who cannot afford to purchase costly medicines. Under this project, it has been decided between  Jalaluddin Roomi Foundation and Nishtar Hospital administration that Hospital Administration will form a committee in this regard which will regularly register such  patients and provide them with free medicines. 

Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi Foundation will provide medicines and insulin to 250 diabetic patients registered in Nishtar Hospital Multan for their treatment at initial stage. For which the retired senior professors of medicine of Nishtar Hospital will be included in this board to ensure the supply of insulin and diabetes medicines to the poor patients with their consultation.   Jalauddin Roomi foundation will enter into direct contracts with the drug and insulin supply companies to ensure the supply of drugs and insulin to diabetic patients. 

It may be mentioned that Diasbetic patients are facing difficulties because medicines are not available on control price . Insulin is being sold in the black at Rs 1800 instead of actual price of Rs.600. The supply of diabetes medicines at the government level is not fully functional due to which the lives of diabetics were at stake. And for this noble purpose,

 Khwaja Jalaluddin Roomi  has decided to take this step to provide medicine to the increasing number of diabetic patients in South Punjab, so that the poor diabetics can benefit. By ensuring the supply of medicines to patients, their lives can be saved. This center will be run with the support of Vice Chancellor Nishtar Medical University Prof. Dr. Mehnaz Khakwani, Principal Nishtar Medical University Prof. Dr. Rashid Qamar Rao, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and Dr. Salahuddin Mehmood Rind.
