Two brothers among five children drown in Surjani Town

Five boys, aged between nine and 14 years, drowned in a water-filled pit in Surjani Town on Sunday.
They were identified as Zubair, Aman, Abdullah, and brothers, Aseed and Maqsood.
According to police and rescue workers, the children had been playing on the site of an under-construction building and jumped into the nearby pit to cool off.
Their bodies were recovered by rescue workers, and shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Area residents have accused the builders and officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board of negligence.
They claimed that it was water from a faulty pipeline that had accumulated in the three to four feet deep pit.
