Customs staff foiled a bid to smuggle foreign currency at Multan airport


Multan, Customs authorities at Multan Interntional Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign currency worth 19,471 US dollars to United Arab Emirates and the accused Muhammad Yar son of Ahmed Bakhsh, a resident of Rangpur Khaira town in Muzaffargarh district was taken into custody for interrogation. He was booked under customs act 1969. Official sources said that Deputy Collector (customs) Multan Airport Ahmed Zaheer and his team conducted a successful operation and recovered 18,000 Saudi Riyals, 2,915 UAE Dirhams, 2538 Omani Rials and 2840 Pakistani currency notes worth Rs.2840 were recovered from the possession of a passenger Ahmed Yar. Collector (Customs) Airports Punjab Madam Tayyaba Kiani has congratulated Deputy Collector Multan and his team on this achievement. An investigation has been initiated against the arrested accused. Collector Customs Punjab Madam Tayyaba Kayani has once again expressed her determination that under the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Shahbaz Sharif, all resources and capabilities are being utilized to prevent smuggling and crack down on smugglers. Strict checking and monitoring of passengers coming from foreign countries and traveling from the country to other countries is being carried out at all airports in Punjab, including Multan. A full-scale operation is underway against smugglers and smuggling networks. The Customs Airport, in collaboration with other national institutions, is fulfilling national responsibilities against all smuggling.
