Girl student locked in hotel room in Hyderabad for 20 days ,rescued, Four worker killed, 8 killed as building collpased

 

An 18-year-old girl student, who was locked in a hotel room here for 20 days, allegedly by an engineering student, who had befriended her online, was rescued by the SHE Teams, a wing of Hyderabad Police.

The girl was rescued on Saturday and the 19-year-old accused arrested and a case registered against him under the BNS at Narayanaguda police station, they said.

The parents of the girl student from Bhainsa town lodged a complaint with SHE Teams, Hyderabad, stating that their daughter had called them saying she had been trapped by an online friend through a social media platform, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber Crimes & Women Safety-Hyderabad) D Kavitha said.

The victim had said the accused forced her to come to Hyderabad and she had been locked in a hotel room for 20 days by him, police said, adding she shared her current location to her parents via an instant messaging app.

The SHE Teams traced the girl to a locked hotel room at Narayanaguda, and handed her over to her parents, police said.The accused was subsequently arrested.

The SHE Teams is a wing of Telangana Police, tasked with cracking down on eve-teasers and stalkers and providing safety and security to women and girls.

(Lightning claimed seven lives) Seven men were killed and three injured after they were struck by lightning in Chhattisgarh's Balodabazar-Bhatapara district on Sunday, officials said.

The incident took place at Mohtara village in the evening when the victims were working in a field, a district administration official said.

"As per preliminary information, these persons gathered at the edge of a pond near their field amid heavy rain when lightning struck. The deceased were identified as Mukesh (20), Tankar Sahu (30), Santosh Sahu (40), Thaneshwar Sahu (18), Pokhraj Vishwakarma (38), Dev Das (22) and Vijay Sahu (23)," he said.

The three injured were hospitalised, the official added.

Expressing grief, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said officials had been directed to give all help to the injured.

"My condolences are with the families of the deceased. I pray to God for the peace of the departed souls and the speedy recovery of the injured," Sai said.

(WORKERS KILLED)Four workers were killed, and one sustained injuries after a hopper filled with coal collapsed on them at an alumina refinery in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district on Sunday, police said.

The incident occurred around 11 am at Maa Kudargarhi Alumina Refinery in Silsila village under the Raghunathpur police chowki, an official said.

A steel tower-mounted hopper filled with coal collapsed and fell on ten men working below it, he said.

A police team rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation, he said.

The official said, “Bodies of four workers were retrieved from the site, and one worker was found in a critical condition and hospitalised.”

The search and rescue operation has been called off, he said, adding that five other workers escaped unhurt.

The deceased were identified as Prince Thakur (25) and Manoj Singh Rajput (34), both residents of neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, and Karanveer Manjhi (22) and Ramesnar Manjhi from Bihar, the official said.A probe has been initiated into the incident, he said.

BUILDING COLLPASED- OWNER BOOKED)Police on Sunday booked the owner of the three-storey building here that collapsed a day ago, killing eight people, officials said.

Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Amit Verma said a police team is investigating the matter and the accused will be arrested soon.

A senior police official said an FIR has been lodged against Rakesh Singhal, the owner of the Harmilap building in the Transport Nagar area.

The building collapsed on Saturday evening. A major rescue operation was started. Eight people were killed in the incident while 28 others were injured.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government formed a three-member committee on Sunday to probe the building collapse incident.

The FIR against Singhpal was lodged at the Sarojini Nagar police station here on the complaint of MK Singh, the police outpost in-charge at Transport Nagar, the officials said.

The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), and 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide).

According to the officials, the building had a motor workshop and warehouse on the ground floor, a medical godown on the first and a cutlery warehouse on the second floor.
