According to the FIA spokesperson, the arrests were made as part of a concerted effort to dismantle an international racket involved in the illicit issuance of Pakistani passports and identity cards to Afghan citizen
The operation, conducted by the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad, resulted in the apprehension of key individuals, including three Assistant Directors, four agents, and five Afghan nationals implicated in the illegal scheme.
In another operation, the FIA also targeted individuals within Nadra suspected of preparing identity cards based on fraudulent documents. Four officers and agents of Nadra were arrested in the operation.
According to the spokesman, the operation was carried out on the complaint of Nadra and Passport and Immigration Directorate Islamabad, during which a total of 16 accused were arrested.
The FIA spokesperson emphasised that the investigation remains active, with additional raids and arrests anticipated as authorities work to apprehend other individuals involved in the illegal issuance of Pakistani documentation to Afghan nationals.
