The Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan Dr Riina Kionka called on renowned Industrialist cum philanthropist and former Punjab caretaker Minister for Industry Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi here today. During the meeting, the two sides discussed different issues of mutual interest including progress on GSP Plus.Roomi thanked the EU Ambassador for her cooperation He welcomed the Ambassador of the EU and highlighted bilateral relations and development cooperation between the EU and Pakistan. He said that Pakistan highly values its bilateral ties with the EU including trade and economic relations. He stressed the need to further strengthening trade relations between Pakistan and the European Union. Jalaluddin Roomi also apprised the EU ambassador on recent economic developments and policies of the present government.Roomi said that “The prospects for Pakistan are improving following the changing patterns in global trade,”. “To take advantage of them, local exporters have begun investing in technology and products already.”Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said we are competing with the whole world in quality,standards ,sustainability and affordability, but our products do not have access all global markets. Therefore, we will try our utmost to introduce our products not only in take the products produced here to the countries of the European Union countries but also in United States, Canada, United Kingdom and others
Ambassador Dr Riina Kionka also highlighted the mutual relations between Pakistan and the EU in diversified fields and appreciated present government’s ongoing economic reform agenda. The Ambassador also supported Pakistan’s efforts towards making progress for GSP Plus and extended her cooperation.She said that European Union countries are ever-ready for full cooperation to promote trade relations in Pakistan and especially the interaction with industrialists of South Punjab to keep in touch with trade activities of European Union countries for better marketing of their products.European Union Ambassador Dr Riina Kionka assured her host that the economic cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union is an important milestone. More business opportunities would be explored.
She appreciated the services of the Roomi foundation particularly supplying of food to the porters and passengers at Multan cantt railway station and making arrangements for supply of clean water to the people of remote areas of Pakistan.
EU Ambassador Dr Riina Kionka said that I am very happy to come to Multan to see that the people of this city are not only loving, but the way they work hard for their profession which help in increasing the demand for their manufactured products. It is happening. The day is not far when the products manufactured in South Punjab will be famous all over the world.
Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi informed the Ambassador of the European Union Dr Riina Kionka about the projects of Jalaluddin Roomi Foundation that we have been working on clean water education and public health projects in various areas of South Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan for the past several years. Distributing food items to the communities, especially our foundation has dedicated itself to providing clean water, on which the Ambassador of the European Union, Dr Riina Kionka , appreciated the humanitarian projects of the Roomi Foundation. And said that before coming to Multan, I was aware of the various projects of Roomi Foundation, but today's meeting not only made me aware of the charitable works of Roomi Foundation, but through your efforts, there was a clear improvement in the society by providing basic facilities in the backward areas. .
