MULTAN,Feb 15th:Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Monday disclosed that Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon announce a mega agricultural package for the farmers of South Punjab for their prosperity, upliftment and development and said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was taking bold decisions for the welfare of farmers and 2021 would be the year of farmers in the province.
Exchanging views with noted industrialist cum agriculturist, Ex-President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) and sitting President of Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber of Commerce & Industry and ex-Provincial caretaker Minister for Industries Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi at his residence, Governor Punjab said the past government made false claims for the uplift of farmers and never took tangible measures to improve the lot of farmers, adding the PTI was committed to the cause of the farmers and the agriculture sector.
Governor said that dream of self-sufficiency can prove true by enhancing the per acre yield and reducing the cost of agriculture production. “Unless the farmers of Pakistan are strong and prosperous, we cannot fully succeed in the mission of making Pakistan developed and prosperous.” He said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, had decided to solve the problems of farmers on war-footing for which all resources would be mobilised. In order to address sense of deprivation among people of South Punjab, South Punjab secretariat had been introduced.
Governor appreciated the services of Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi in serving the humanity,providing clean water to the people of Sindh ,Punjab and Balochistan besides providing health facilities.He also introduced Qarz-e-Hasna scheme to provide self-employment facility to stand the needy people on their own feet. An amount of Rs.50,000 to 1,00,000 would be given to run their own business and to make them bread earners for their families. Governor further said that Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi provided Personal Protection equipment (PPEs) for the doctors and paramedics treating the coronavirus patients but also provided them ration. ,”He appreciated the Jalaluddin Roomi’s services for provision of ration to the poor during lock-down, and steps for fighting coronavirus outbreak in the area. Chief Minister said that Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi's indefatigable services in the field of health are appreciable. He also joined hands with Government in provision of purified water and a large number of people of far flung areas where water is polluted or brackish are enjoying this facility at their door step.
Renowned Industrialist Jalaluddin Roomi also spoke and apprised him of his future plans for the betterment of humanity .He said that we are following Prime Minister Imran Khan and we have also been initiating "Qarz-e-Hasna" scheme to facilitate the poor people and intelligent students that they could achieve the objective easily.Roomi observed that he himself would pay funds for the scheme and this fund would rotate in future .He also remarked that cooperation was also being extended in "Langar Khana" and Shelter Home schemes according to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.Punjab Minister for energy Dr.Akhtar Malik, Deputy Commissioner Multan Muhammad Amer Khattak were also present there.
