At least four soldiers were martyred on Friday when terrorists attacked a security forces post on Friday in the South Waziristan district, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Troops responded promptly to the attack and killed four of the attackers during the raid in the Makeen area of the district.
The martyred were identified by the military's media wing as Lance Naik Imran Ali, Sepoy Atif Jahangir, Sepoy Anees ur Rehman and Sepoy Aziz.
A clearance operation in the area is in progress, added the military's media wing.
Earlier on Friday, a five-year-old minor was martyred and seven other children, including a girl, sustained injuries after a group of terrorists based in Afghanistan fired rockets at civilian population in Bajaur district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the affected area and launched search and rescue operations to help the victims.

“Terrorists fired five rockets from inside Afghanistan in Lagharai sector and Sarakai top, Bajaur. A 5-year-old-minor – resident of Mamund, Bajaur – embraced Shahadat [martyrdom] while seven minors including a girl got injured," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Thursday.
On Thursday evening, rockets were fired from Afghanistan targeting civilian population in the border areas of Mokha, Ghundai and Gali in Bajaur district.
Injured include Hezbollah, Khabeeb, Tasbeeha, Dadullah and Afsa.

Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Fayyaz Sherpao, DPO Shehzad Kokab Farooq and SP Investigation Waqar Khan visited Khar Hospital after the rocket attack and inquired after the injured children.
DC Fayyaz Sherpao directed the authorities concerned to provide best possible treatment to the victims free of charge.
The authorities also sent relief items to the victims’ families
Meanwhile, Sector Commander North Brigadier Chaudhry Azhar Munir also visited the victims undergoing treatment at district headquarters Hospital Khar and assured the victims’ families that Pakistan Army would provide all possible assistance for the treatment of the injured.
He also provided cash assistance to the families on behalf of Frontier Corps and directed the doctors of Pakistan Army to provide best medical care to the victims.
The commander said the Pakistan Army and the Frontier Corps were targeting terrorist hideouts across the border.
