Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif was arrested by the National Accountability Court in the money laundering case on after the Lahore High Court rejected his bail plea on Monday.
The PML-N leader was arrested from the court premises after a two-judge bench rejected his interm bail plea.
The bench was hearing the bail petition of Shehbaz in an assets beyond means and money laundering case.
Earlier, while addressing the court during the hearing, Shehbaz had said that NAB would not be able to prove corruption even if it takes 250 years to do so.
LHC had extended Shehbaz’s interim bail till September 28 in the assets beyond means and money laundering cases.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem had heard the case with National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) special prosecutor Syed Faisal Raza Bukhari also present.
Condemning Shehbaz’s arrest, Maryam Nawaz tweeted that the PML-N president was arrested only because he refused to play in the hands of those who wanted to use him against his brother.
