'APS carnage will never be forgotten': President Alvi, COAS Bajwa pledge on fifth anniversary

On the fifth anniversary of the attack on Peshawar’s Army Public School (APS), Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa said the carnage will never be forgotten.
At least 144 people, mostly students, were martyred when terrorists stormed the educational institute and carried out a massacre of innocent students and staff.
“Five of the involved terrorists have been hanged through military courts,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) quoted the army chief.Following the APS carnage, the National Action Plan (NAP) was drafted and military courts were constituted to try terrorism accused.
General Bajwa, paying tribute to the martyrs and their families, further said the nation has come a long way “in failing terrorism”.
“United we move towards lasting peace and prosperity of Pakistan.”
President Arif Alvi said the nation “cannot forget the massacre of little angels/teachers of APS 5 years ago on this day.”
He reaffirmed the commitment to root out terrorism and extremism in “all its manifestations from our country”.Reiterating his resolve to eliminate militancy in Pakistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan said no extremist ideology will ever be allowed to take the country hostage.
“The blood of the innocent united the entire nation against all forms of extremism, terrorism, violence and hatred,” he said. “We also laud the sacrifices of our armed forces, police and law enforcing agencies in the fight against terrorism.”
In his message, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari lamented the lax implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) that was formulated in the wake of the APS tragedy.Other ministers and politicans, including Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry and PPP Senator Sherry Rehman, also remembered the victims of the brutal attack.
