Christian community staged a demonstration in front of Multan Press Club on Saturday against the non-availability of electricity in 21st century in their locality "Gulshan-e-Rehman on Duniyapur road in Multan city.The demo was led by Sardar Gill, Waheed Masih, Nazir Masih,Zafar Iqbal and Rana Akmal. A number of women and children also joined the demo and they shouted slogans against MEPCO authorities. They briefed the media men that a local landlord had donated 35 Kanals of land for the poor people and they constructed their mud houses and electricity was supplied to them from a three-phase meter installed to run a tube well as well a "Chakki".In 2012 MEPCO employees erected three poles their and installed power-meters on different home after extorting money.but these were unauthorised. Consequently, all the connections were disconnected in 2013. The affectees have moved to MEPCO authorities for installation of a transformer on cost and restoration of their power connections but all in vain.They are forced to live without electricity. They have appealed to Prime Minister Imran khan to issue orders to concerned authorities for restoration of power supply before the arrival of Christmas.
