MULTAN, July 6th: Export of Pakistani Magoes is progressing by leaps and bounds in European countries, United States , Iran, and Gulf Countries,Exporters should adhere the international rules and regulation, certification, packaging standards,Fumigation & related export certification,WEBOC registration and Handling, said Muhammad Idrees Afghar ,resource person while delivering his lecture at a training workshop jointly organised by SMEDA and MCCI on "Procedures and Documentation for Mango export".which was chaired by Syed Zahid Hussain Gardezi, President of Mango growers Association.The Workshop was also attended by Muzaffar Khan Khakwani,Suhail Azhar of SMEDA,Ms.Sana Niaz Burrana,Khurram Javed Butt Secretary General of MCCI and Khadim Hussain.A number of exporters ,Mango growers, MCCI member,.Emerging and Existing Enterpreneurs,Small business owners,professionals in export,logistic and supply chain etc. Participants complained that no financial institution is ready to open Letter of credit(LC) of mango exporters which may cause financial losses to them at the hands of foreign buyers. They said that Mango exports earned Pakistan $94.059 million in foreign exchange in last two years. The export of mango from Pakistan commenced from 17th May 2018 during the current season of mango while the export target of mango has been set as 100,000 metric tons. However, the production of mango is expected to be less than 35% due to bad effect of the acute shortage of water and global warming. The CPEC route would also be utilized first time to export mango to China.Foreign exchange of USD 95-100 million would be generated by attaining the export target of 100,000 tons.Devaluation of Pakistani currency coupled with the export of mango to new avenues would further enhance export revenue,they said.Participants stressed upon the Airlines to keep the cost of Air Freight within the reasonable limit, keeping the current crises of a balance of payment, Pakistan is confronted with so that increasing cost of production, making it difficult to compete in the International market can be brought down to effectively encounter competitors.The Gulf countries, United Arab Emirates, Saudia Arab and European countries would be major buyers of Pakistani mangoes, however, queries in abundance from Chinese buyers are pouring in, expressing keen interest for import of Pakistani mangoes.The trainer threw light on international trade and its requirements, related statistics ,importance,benefits,risk and barriers.He narrated the modus operandi of establishing an export business in Pakistan,international trade terms and conditions,International commercial terms, Significance of current changes in rules and regulations,Graphical description,Obligations for sellers,buyers under INCO terms and pricing strategies ,Handling export contracts of perishable goods specially mangoes,,dealing with freight forwarders,transporters,relevant customs tariff code for mango export.customs clearance ,Payment modes for export from Pakistan and terms allowed by State Bank of Pakistan.
