MULTAN, March 18th : Over 11.525 million bales of cotton have arrived in 2017-18 season at various ginneries in Pakistan, as on March 15th, 2018, up 7.74 per cent over arrival of 10.722 million bales during the corresponding period of last season, according to the latest fortnightly report on cotton arrivals, released by Haji Muhammad Akram Chairman of Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA)here on Sunday.In the major cotton producing province of Punjab, total cotton arrivals increased by 5.24 per cent year-on-year to 72,98,829 bales, according to the report prepared by PCGA, in joint cooperation with All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) and the Karachi Cotton Association (KCA). While in Sindh province, cotton arrivals increased 12.31 per cent to 4.253 million bales as on March 15th during the ongoing cotton season 2017-18. Of which 10.954 million bales were sold, leaving an unsold stock of 5,97,847 bales with the ginners, as on March 15, according to the data.The textile mills in Pakistan consumed 10.737 million bales, while another 2,16,615 bales of cotton were sold to exporters, according to the data. Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) Chairman Haji Muhammad Akram told mediamen that Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 1,15,52,252 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan ,showing an increase of 7.74 per cent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 1,07,2,2,245 bales. According to the 13th fortnightly report. Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 72,98,829 bales against the last year arrival of 69,35,134 bales showing an increase of merely 5.24 per cent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 42,53,423 bales while last year Sindh received 37,87.111 bales 12.31% more .Textile mills have bought 1,07,,790, bales while exporters bought 2,16,615 bales. The total bales sold out so far were calculated at 1,09,54,405 bales. While 5,97,847 bales are lying unsold because some ginners are waiting for higher prices of cotton in Market.Multan received 2,83,712 bales 3.72 % decrease than last year, Lodhran 1,71,986 bales 10.35 % decrease, Khanewal 7,08,554 bales an increase of 22.22 %, Muzaffargarh 3,69,909 bales an increase of 13.23 %, Dera Ghazi Khan 4,37,900 an increase of 30.01 %, Rajanpur 4,47,955 bales, 34.40 % increase,Layyah 2,94,142 bales 9.25.% increase, Vehari 5,89,291 bales 53.93 % increase, Sahiwal 2,75,119 bales 29.90 % more than last year, Pakpattan 39,130 bales 6.63 % decrease, Okara 15,775 bales- 17.35 % short, Toba Tek Singh 1,79,108 bales, 12.98 % increase , Faisalabad 38,776 bales 4.45 % less than last year, Jhang 21,328 showing a decrease of 29.15 %, Mianwali 2,06,265 a decrease of 21.97 % , Bhakkar 85,097 (38.05 % more) Sargodha 7,293 (25.94 % decrease), Rahimyar Khan 10,72,319 bales (6.35 % decrease), Bahawalpur 10,14,019 an increase of 3.16 %,and Bahawalnagar 10,13,839 bales ,a decrease of 18.21 %. In Sindh province: Hyderabad 2,52,389 bales 10.95 % more than last year,Mirpur Khas (Thar) 2,21,367 bales 18.17 % less, Sangarh ,13,83,017 bales 12.56 % increase, Nawabshah 3,48,299 bales (5.92 % increase), Naushero Feroze 3,75,311 bales (9.92% increase), Khairpur 3,37,518 (16.49 % increase) Ghotki 3,85,265 (27.75 % increase),Sukkur , 6,16,765 (16.56 % increase), Dadu 69,182 (54.77 % increase), Jamshoro 1,30,110 bales (17.85 % more) ,Badeen 17,335 bales 35.86 % less) and Baluchistan 1,16,700 bales (an increase of 53.68 %). Total 51 ginning factories are operational in the country.Of them 43 in Punjab and 8 in Sindh.Total 5,97,847 bales are lying in unsold stock.
