At least 9 dead, 16 injured in blast, gun attack on Quetta church

At least nine people were killed and 30 injured in a suicide attack on the Bethel Memorial Methodist Church on Quetta's Zarghoon Road on Sunday afternoon.

All casualties, which included women and children, were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta. Speaking on Sunday evening, Hospital Spokesman Waseem Baig said the death toll had risen to nine.Twitter Ads info and privacAt least eight people, including 2 ladies and one child have been killed and 20 people were injured in a suicide attack targeting a Bethel Memorial Church located on Zarghoon Road today afternoon in Quetta .The police teams and rescue teams have reached the site and cordoned off the area. 

An emergency has been imposed in all hospitals across Quetta . Rescue and relief operation is under way. The church has been cleared after inspection by the security agencies. 

After the explosion was reported, an exchange of fire ensued between terrorists and security personnel. The media personnel were directed to stay away from the site.According to Quetta Deputy Commissioner Farrukh Atiq, at least nine people lost their lives while 16 others have been injured during attack on the church.

Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said that a suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance gate of the church when stopped by the security guards while another one managed to get inside.On the instructions of CM Balochistan and

Health Ministry, an emergency has been declared in public hospitals of Quetta. “All doctors and paramedics staff shall be vigilant and must use all available resources to give maximum  proper health care facilities to the injured ones” an official statement said.

Eyewitnesses say that a number of people have also sustained injuries who are now being shifted to hospital.

Meanwhile, Foreign Office has condemned the attack on church.
