Pakistan embassy in Seoul hosts Gandhara arts exhibition

As part of the country’s 70th Independence Day celebrations, Embassy of Pakistan in Seoul hosted a reception for the Diplomatic Corps and Korean dignitaries during the “Special Viewing of the Gandhara Artefacts Exhibition” at the Seoul Arts Centre on Friday.


According to a statement, Speaker of South Korean National Assembly Chung Sye-Kyun attended the event as a chief guest, who was accompanied by members of the Korea Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group and diplomatic corps based in Seoul.
In his remarks, Chung expressed full confidence that Pakistan will continue to grow from strength to strength.
“He highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Korea and emphasised the recent positive political interactions including his visit to Pakistan in August,” the statement said.
He hoped for increasing people to people contact and investment and economic relationship’s growth.
Pakistan’s ambassador Rahim Hayat Qureshi also spoke on the occasion. The Gandhara Artefacts Exhibition is running till September 30.
Earlier another exhibition was jointly organised by Gandhara Art and Culture Association of Pakistan in March , in collaboration with Interart Channel and Jogye Buddhist sect of South Korea.  68 Gandhara antiquities were put on display at the exhibition. The president of Interart Channel said the main objective of this exhibition was to give a soft image of Pakistan to the world and to attract religious tourist from Korea.He said Gandhara art had great potential to attract Buddhists and added through this exhibition they were looking  for potential developer to build a modern infrastructure aimed at accommodating a large number of tourists.“Through this exhibition we have attempted to revive and strengthen the cultural ties between Korea and Pakistan and to portray Pakistan as the cradle of peace and harmony,” he said, adding he also wants to bring peace and harmony in the world through art channel.
