A Pakistani Muslim woman and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have a special message on "brotherhood" for everyone on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the devout festival of Hindus.
Qamar Mohsin Shaikh, a Pakistani woman, who married to an Indian man and had been living there, claimed for tying Rakhi to Narender Modi for 23 years when Modi was a worker (Karyakarta) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Shaikh expressed eagerly, “I have been tying Rakhi to Narendra bhai for the last 22-23 years. I am excited to do it this time too.”
During the Raksha Bandhan festival, sisters tie Rakhi (a colourful sacred thread) on the wrist of their brothers and brothers in return vow to protect them.
Modi and his Pakistani sister give out a message of brotherhood to both the nations.
“When I first tied Rakhi to Narendra bhai he was a karyakarta, but with his sheer hard work and vision he has become the PM. This time I thought he (PM) must be busy but two days back he called up, I was very happy to know that. So, I have started my preparation to meet him on Raksha Bandhan”, she added.
Qamar was shifted to India after her marriage and since then she has been staying there. While talking she recalled of the times when she had no relative except for her in-laws there.
She declares herself lucky after she met Modi soon after she came to India. Ever since, both of them have been celebrating the Rakhsha Bandhan together.
Raksha Bandhan, a Hindu religious festival is being celebrated today across the countries. The ritual is celebrated by many people belonging to different ethnicities as it marks the special bond between brothers and sisters.
