MULTAN,April 6th:No academic and administrative activities took place on Wednesday (today) as women university Multan observed strike and boycotted their professional duties .The Female teachers of Women University of Multan staged a demonstration against non-payment ofsalaries for the last two months and arrears of a year after promotion in next grade and other demands put before Governor Punjab Malik Rafiq Rajwana , who is also the chancellor of the women university.The demo was led by a leader of Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA)Prof.Tanvir Shah .He alleged that Ex-Vice Chancellor of Women University Multan Dr.Shahida Hasnain has destroyed the career of academic staff of Post graduate degree college for women by hiring the staff for university on deputation.He had announced to grant one step promotion to the staff but no benefit was given to them during a year.He further said that payroll of entire staff was transferred to University while they were serving under Higher education Commission. Now she had gone leaving them at the mercy of Punjab Government. New Vice chancellor was not yet appointed and they could not get March salary and other allowances . They appealed to Governor Punjab Malik Rafiq Rajwana who is also chancellor of the university to allow the treasurer or acting vice chancellor to draw staff salaries or restore the Drawing and disbursing powers of academic staff .Professor Farhat Altaf said that their protest will continue till the acceptance of their demands.
