Sacramento Woman falls off highest California bridge while taking selfie


A Sacramento woman has been hospitalised after she fell 60 feet off California’s tallest bridge while attempting to take a selfie.
Almost 100 people have been killed from either falling or jumping off the bridge since it first opened in 1973.The unidentified female was walking on the catwalk underneath the 730 feet tall Foresthill Bridge in an attempt to take the perfect selfie. She was flown to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive.
Despite warnings by authorities of the dangers of accessing the walkway under the bridge, people still risk their lives in order to take pictures on the bridge.Placer County Sheriff’s Office said the walkways under the Foresthill Bridge are closed to the public due to the potential dangers and that it is illegal to walk on them. “The walkways under the Foresthill Bridge are closed for the protection of our residents and our community,” the sheriff’s department stated in a post on its Facebook page.
“Any trespassers found on the bridge will be cited. Be safe and tour the bridge from the sidewalks above. This young lady is very lucky to be alive and the consequences could have been worse for her, her friends and her family.”Almost 100 people have been killed from either falling or jumping off the bridge since it first opened in 1973.By deck height, Foresthill Bridge is the highest bridge in California and the fourth highest in the country.
