MULTAN, April 19: Activists of All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA)observed pen down strike in south Punjab including Multan,Muzaffargarh,Rajanpur, Layyah, Bahawalpur, Rahimyarkhan,Bahawalnagar and Dera Ghazi Khan in the first phase of their protest topress the authorities for raising their salaries in the forthcoming budget to be announced on May 26.
All the offices locked and Apca office bearers including grade I to 16 organised rallies carrying banners, placards likewise other parts of the country. A big rally took out from Irrigation offices on Abdali road in Multan which terminated in front of Multan Press Club.
Speaking on the occasion Apca Multan division president Rana Iqbal Noon demanded the government revised pay scales for public servants followed by merging all past adhoc relief in basic pay. He demanded the government allocation of 60 pc for house rent on running salary to all federal and provincial employees.
Rana Iqbal Noon demanded across the board equal basis salaries and allowances to all the employees in the country by eliminating the difference of judiciary and secretariat employees. Increase in salaries keeping in view of growing inflation and price hike. He demanded up gradation of all the technical and non-technical posts without any discrimination. Immediate announcement of time scale promotion policy for cadre deprived from promotion.
Rana Iqbal Noon demanded 100 pc increase in medial and conveyance allowances. The insurance amount should be paid to all employees at the time of retirement and repeal of contract policy, regularization of whole contract staff.
He warned Lahore and Islamabad lock down in case the government would not consider their demands.
The Apca activists also staged demonstration in chowk Nawan Sher at the end of protest rally.
