Pak-Afghan border, Indian ceasefire violations discussed in commanders’ conference

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa presided over the 200th corps commanders’ conference at GHQ on Thursday.
The forum reviewed the security environment; keeping special focus on internal security, Pak-Afghan border and Indian cease fire violations along Line of Control (LOC)/working boundary (WB). The COAS also explained the participants about his visits to UAE and Qatar.
Forum hailed the security forces’ performance - including police, intelligence and other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) - for effective response to recent terror incidents. They also appreciated the security arrangements for PSL final at Lahore. Forum discussed Operation Radd-ul-Fasaadin detail. Bajwa said that the Radd-ul-Fasaad is a comprehensive, across the board operation against terrorists and terrorism; and is not against any particular race, sect or group.
National Action Plan’s (NAP) progress was also discussed in the conference. The forum concluded that, through Radd-ul-Fasaad, implementation of NAP needs to be accelerated by respective stake holders for lasting peace and stability in the country. COAS also informed the participants about last security conference’s discussion with government authorities, which included phased fencing of Pak-Afghan border, repatriation of Afghan Refugees, judicial, police and madrassa/educational institutions reforms and restarting execution of death sentences to terrorists awarded by Military Courts.
The conference expressed confidence on the military courts’ performance. However, decision to reinstate military courts rests with the government. Dawn leak issue was also discussed. Pakistan Army’s support in conducting 6th Housing and Population Census 2017 was also discussed in the forum and COAS said that Army shall undertake this task as a national service.
The conference concluded that hostile agencies are trying to undo Pakistan’s gains in security and development, especially CPEC. They pledged that evil plans will be defeated and Pak Army would play its due role towards defence and security of the motherland. Sacrifices made by resilient people of Pakistan and its brave security forces shall not go waste.
