A woman from northern Uttar Pradesh, India, h on Thursday after he refused to have physical relations with her, according to a report in the Hindustan Times.Angered by her husband’s alleged extra-marital affair, a 30-year-old resident of Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad allegedly chopped off his private parts on Thursday morning, police said. According to police, the couple hails from Bulandshahr district and they had been residing in Ghaziabad for around eight years. “Relations between them had been strained. The accused, in her statement, said that her husband was having an extra-marital affair,” said J P Dubey, SHO, Khoda Colony.Police said the woman had used a kitchen knife for the assault. A case under IPC Section 326 — voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means — was registered at Khoda Colony police station.
The husband — a 40-year-old taxi operator — was rushed to Jaypee Hospital in Noida where he underwent a surgery for nearly five hours. “It took us nearly five hours to operate on him. A penile re-implantation has been carried out. Approximately, three-fourth of the penis was cut and it was necessary to repair arteries and veins and restore blood supply,” said Saurabh Gupta, Jaypee Hospital.
The police said that the incident took place after an argument between them. “The accused has told us that she was mentally tortured by her husband. On Thursday morning, he had come out of the bathroom when they had another fight. Following this, she attacked him with a kitchen knife,” Dubey said.
In a similar incident in Northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, a 20-year-old man’s private parts were chopped off allegedly by transgenders.
The incident was reported on March 5 when the man had gone to the residence of the transgenders.
Based on the man’s complaint a case has been registered at Jahangirpuri Police Station under IPC sections 326 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison).
Police said that they are yet to make any arrest as they are investigating if the man had agreed to have his private parts removed.
The 34 year-old victim, who is a cab operator, was admitted to Jaypee Hospital in Noida where he remains in critical condition. The newspaper quotes Dr Saurabh Gupta at the hospital as saying that “the patient’s private parts had been cut off. We have performed the surgery. He is in a critical situation but we are hoping that he will survive. In such cases, the patient is able to reproduce after the surgery.”
A case has been registered against the wife while she remains in police custody.
According to circle officer Anil Kumar, the 30-year-old woman told the police that “her husband mentally tortured her by not having a physical relationship with her and avoided having children with her. Frustrated by his behaviour, she picked up a kitchen knife and attacked him when he came out of the bathroom.”
“He used boast about his manhood and told me that he can have children with other women but not me,” the woman said in her statement to the police officials. “I still tolerated him. I don’t know the reason why he hates me. Often, he used to ask me to leave. We got married in June 2006. He used to assault me and often abused me and my sisters. I have tried my level best to persuade him to have children but he had no physical relations with me.”
“We had fight over the same issue on Wednesday night.I have no regrets as I suffered a lot of humiliation and mental torture. I had no answers when my relatives asked me the reason for not having children,” she added.
“The doctors have performed a surgery on my brother. He had just come out of the bathroom when she attacked him. As my brother lay drenched in blood, she latched the room from outside and walked off. My brother called the police,” the brother of the victim told police. “Apart from the private part, she hurt him nowhere else. We have also informed her family members about the incident. My brother has also given his statements to the police.”
