Four terrorists and two army officials were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Frontier Region (FR) Bannu on Thursday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The IBO was carried out in the Mullagano area of the frontier region as part of the countrywide Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad to eliminate terrorists.
“During an IBO at Mullagano area, Jani Khel, FR Bannu, four terrorists were killed,” a statement issued by ISPR said. It added that Lieutenant Khawar and Naik Shehzad were martyred in an exchange of fire with the terrorists.
Earlier in the day, security forces killed one suspected terrorist and detained 22 others in nationwide raids as part of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad.
The Frontier Corps and intelligence agencies conducted a search operation in Andoor and Kech areas of Balochistan. “One terrorist was killed while 12 suspects were apprehended. A cache of arms and ammunition was recovered,” ISPR , adding that one FC soldier was injured in an exchange of fire with the militants.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Rangers conducted search operations in DG Khan, Rajanpur, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Attock, apprehending 10 suspects. “Caches of ammunition and explosive material were also recovered,” the ISPR statement added.
Pakistan Army launched the new operation following a series of terrorist attacks left over 100 people dead last month.
In an interview earlier this week, ISPR chief Asif Ghafoor said Radd-ul-Fasaad is aimed at countering the ‘mischievous’ elements whether they existed within the country or outside.
