The Multan Development Authority (MDA) has declared 175 private housing
schemes and colonies illegal here on Saturday.
Additional Director General of MDA Altaf Hussain Sariyo confirmed the crackdown and asked the citizens to refrain from buying plots in these colonies.
He told journalists that the action had been initiated.
“The action is underway against these illegal schemes and cases are being registered against their owners,” he added.
He declared that all the constructions made in these housing schemes either by their owners or the citizens would be demolished.
He suggested to the citizens to check the website of MDA before buying any plot in any scheme to get information on illegal housing colonies.
He said that the owners of these schemes and property dealers deceived the masses by showing that these schemes were approved by the MDA.
He further warned the people that these illegal schemes were without all basic facilities including water, electricity, gas and sewerage system.
He said that the owners of some schemes had got approval from MDA for initial planning which was should not be considered approval for setting up a housing scheme.

The
Multan Development Authority has launched a grand operation against illegal
housing schemes under which cases were registered against owners of 39 schemes,
32 schemes were either completely or partially demolished and 13 were
sealed.Additional Director General of Multan Development Authority (MDA) Altaf
Hussain Sariyo disclosed here on Saturday.Briefing the media on MDA’s
performance, he added that the Government Officials House Building Cooperatives
Housing Society was illegal and its case has been sent to the NAB. He disclosed
that the scheme was illegally named as MDA-1 and MDA-11. He said that the
operation is quite indiscriminate and no one could challenge it. He said that a
mafia has held the authority hostage since long and the officials have started
their own plazas and housing schemes instead of discharging their professional
obligations. He pointed out that overnight laws were enacted to facilitate
blue-eyed persons while the seats were upgraded with the promotion of some
favourites. He disclosed that he had completed his posting tenure in Punjab and
he had been posted in Sindh but the government gave him this assignment to
rebuild this institution.He told the media that SMS service has been launched
to facilitate the applicants. He added that 95 percent of the complaints
received during the last month had been resolved. He said that the allottees of
Fatima Jinnah Town Phase-1 and Phase-11 could now get the occupation of their
plots from MDA. He said that the water supply, sewerage and Sui gas
infrastructure had been installed in these colonies.He said that the authority
has the power to appoint a technical adviser in Multan Metro Project and no
court order has been violated in this regard. He added that the appointment of
technical advisor in the mega project has been made in view of larger public
interest and this appointment does not affect anyone’s promotion. He said that
the MDA Governing Body was headed by an elected public representative while
three other members were also parliamentarians and all the decisions made by
the body were made in line with laws.
