At least three minor students of religious seminary were killed and many others injured when roof of Madina mosque in Karachi’s Malir area caved in on Tuesday.
Reports suggested a water tank placed on the roof caused the latter to fall on those praying in Madina Masjid.
Khokhrapar police said the deceased and victims were shifted to the Jinnah hospital. Earlier in June this year, a collapsed metal awning had killed at least six people after Friday prayers at a mosque in Karachi. The incident took place in Saudabad area of Malir district during afternoon prayers.
Rescue teams and police reached the scene and launched efforts to pull the trapped children out of rubble.
According to police officials, two students were confirmed dead in the mishap and seven were pulled alive.
Police say that the roof caved in due to a water tank.
The mosque's prayer leader was also among the wounded.
