Two death row prisoners were executed in Adiyala Central Prison Rawalpindi
on Monday,They were involved in double murder during Dacoity on July Ist,2003.Chaudhry
Arshad Saeed Arain Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister on Prisons told that
executions were started after 45 days in Punjab province.These were temporarily
suspended during the holy month of
Ramazan to observe the sanctity of the holy month. He said that Tahir Hassan
son of Muhammad Ameer and Chan Zeb son of Ali Zaman have raided a show
room in Sadiqabad police station area.They put chillies in the eyes of security guards on July Ist,2003 .Later
they opened fires on resistence and killed two persons .They were tried under
sections 394 (Dacoity) and 302 PPC. Pakistan lifted a six-year moratorium on
the death penalty in December, after a Taliban attack on a Peshawar school left
more than 150 people dead, most of them children.Executions were initially
resumed only in terrorism cases, but in March the government widened the scope
of the initial order to include all executions.
