MULTAN, April 22nd: Ten memberr of a family including five real brothers have died after taking poisonous sweetmeat and another eight are in precarious condition Nishtar Hospital Multan ,32 affectees are in district head quarter Hospital Layyah. DPO Layyah Muhammad Ali Zia said that Six persons died in Layyah and another Four died in Multan. He said," we have arrested the sweet merchant Khalid Mehmood who had supplied the sweetmeat to Umer Hayat who was celebrating the birth of his first grandson in Chak No.105 (Fatehpur) in Layyah district some 130 miles north-west of Multan," EDO Health Dr.Amir Abdullah said ,"we have sealed the shop of sweet merchant after taking the samples ,"Medical Superintendent of Nishtar Hospital Multan Dr.Ashiq Malik said," total 35 people were shifted to our hospital from Fatehpur of them four died while eight are serious however we are trying to save the lives of all. DPO Layyah said that those nine have so far been died are identified as Muhammad Irfan(20) Shahbaz (4), Ramzan (22), Sikandar ,Khizar Hayat (five real brothers), Abdul Ghafoor and Muhammad Amir (Cousins) Muhammad Hafeez(3) Adil and Muhammad Niaz . Medical Superintendent said that Sher Muhammad, Bashir Ahmed, Khizar Hayat, Sikandar Hayat ,Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Irshad , Sardar Ali, Zahida, Adnan, Farzana bibi, Erum Bibi, Muhammad Sajjad, Haseeb, Sarwar Ali, Hamza, Aisha, Sanwal, Adnan Ali, Hananin, Akbar Ali, Ismail, Gulnaz, Salma, Hameeda Bibi Muhammad Ashraf,Allah Ditta, and Nazakat Ali are still in Nishtar Hospital. District Food Inspector Hanif Mohsin lodged a complaint against the sweet merchant and got registered a case No.150/16 under sections 23-D, 23 E, 23 B and 23 C of food act.
